Velocity Detailing

A design study about perceived value — a detailing studio charging four figures has to look like it before anyone will book.

This is a Northbound showcase. Velocity Detailing is a fictional business created by Northbound Studio to study this problem. It is not a client and has never engaged the studio.

The problem

Detailing sites read like car washes — cluttered pricing tables and phone photos — which caps what a studio can charge no matter how good the work is.

Design approach

Finish-first. Near-black surfaces, an electric accent and macro paint photography, with packages presented as tiers rather than a price list.

What we did

  • Three clearly separated packages with a recommended tier.
  • A before/after comparison that proves correction work instead of describing it.
  • Ceramic coating explained as a protection timeline, not a spec sheet.
  • A sticky booking action tuned for one-handed mobile use.

Conversion structure

Book a detail as the persistent action, with package selection carried into the booking panel so the visitor never restarts the decision.

What the study demonstrates

  • Price framed by outcome rather than by hours.
  • The finish itself carries the persuasion.
  • Transfers to PPF, window tint and performance shops.
