Showcase WebsiteFitness & Studio
Iron Meridian
A design study about pace — high contrast, hard edges and a schedule that answers the only real question: can I come tomorrow?
This is a Northbound showcase. Iron Meridian is a fictional business created by Northbound Studio to study this problem. It is not a client and has never engaged the studio.

The problem
Studio sites sell a philosophy for four screens before revealing class times, the only information a prospective member is looking for.
Design approach
Schedule-first. Oversized condensed type, near-black surfaces and a live class grid placed above every marketing section.
What we did
- A weekly schedule grid rendered directly on the homepage.
- Coach profiles kept short and credential-led.
- Pricing shown plainly with no hidden joining fee language.
- A trial CTA that repeats at every scroll depth without a popup.
Conversion structure
Free trial class as the entry offer, with membership tiers placed after the schedule.
What the study demonstrates
- The core question answered before any persuasion is attempted.
- Intensity expressed through type and contrast, not stock gym photography.
- Transfers to martial arts, climbing and dance studios.
