The problem
Executive dashboards accumulate widgets until nobody can tell which number is the one that matters this week.
Design approach
Subtraction-first. Near-monochrome, four headline metrics, and detail revealed only when a metric is selected.
What we did
- Four metrics on the surface; everything else is one interaction deep.
- Alerts written as sentences with an owner and an amount.
- Health indicators expressed as ranges rather than raw counts.
- Charts drawn as plain SVG — no charting library, no bundle cost.
Conversion structure
Internal tool. Value is decision speed, not engagement time.
What the study demonstrates
- Proves premium data visualisation without visual noise.
- Loads instantly because nothing heavy is imported.
- Transfers to any owner-operated business with recurring reporting.
