Contractor Operations OS
An interactive system showcase: the software a remodeling company would run its day from, built as a working front-end simulation you can navigate.
This is a Northbound showcase. Contractor Operations OS is a fictional product created by Northbound Studio to study this problem. It is not a client and has never engaged the studio.
Simulated business system — fully operable inside Northbound Studio, with fictional data.
The problem
Contractors run on a spreadsheet, a shared inbox and a whiteboard. Nothing reconciles, and the owner is the integration layer.
Design approach
Operations-first. The dashboard answers the four questions an owner asks every morning — what is booked, what is owed, what is on site, and what is waiting on a decision — before any secondary navigation appears.
What we did
- A single record that carries a customer from lead to estimate to project to invoice.
- Stage-aware project cards so crews and office see the same status.
- Responsive tables that become readable cards on a phone in a truck.
- Reporting limited to the four numbers that change decisions.
Conversion structure
Not a marketing surface. Success is measured in fewer clicks between a lead and a signed estimate.
What the study demonstrates
- Demonstrates full application UX, not a styled dashboard screenshot.
- Every table, drawer and filter is genuinely operable.
- Transfers to any trade running estimates and scheduled installs.
