Alder & Ridge

A showcase website for a luxury remodeler, where the decision is made on craftsmanship and process confidence long before a budget conversation happens.

This is a Northbound showcase. Alder & Ridge is a fictional business created by Northbound Studio to study this problem. It is not a client and has never engaged the studio.

The problem

Remodelers photograph excellent work and then present it in cramped three-across grids beside contractor-style badges, which caps perceived budget before a homeowner ever calls.

Design approach

Portfolio-first. Full-bleed architectural photography, a quiet stone palette and generous negative space, with the build process shown as a defined sequence rather than a promise.

What we did

  • Projects presented at full width with the scope and location stated plainly.
  • A five-stage process timeline that removes the fear of an open-ended renovation.
  • Investment ranges stated in bands so unqualified enquiries filter themselves out.
  • Warranty, licensing and design-build credentials given a calm dedicated band.

Conversion structure

Design consultation request as the single action, positioned after the portfolio and again after the process timeline.

What the study demonstrates

  • Craftsmanship carries the argument instead of adjectives.
  • Budget expectations are set before the first conversation.
  • Transfers to custom builders, landscape architects and interior design firms.
